2. Established as a recognised charitable organisation
- A recognised charity is a charitable institution or a charitable trust of a public character which is exempt from tax under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance for charitable purposes, or a donation to the Government for charitable purposes. (Section 2 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance)
- If successfully recognised as a charity, the company will be included in the list of charities and charitable trusts exempt from tax under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance and the general public can check whether their donations can be claimed as a deduction on their tax returns.

3. Why a charity?
- Exempt from business registration.
- Exemption from taxation under the Inland Revenue Ordinance.
- A charitable institution or trust of a public character carrying on any trade or business is exempt from profits tax only if the profits derived from that trade or business are
- Profits will be used for charitable purposes only.
- The majority of the profits generated are not used outside Hong Kong.

(e.g. religious bodies may sell religious pamphlets and leaflets).
The work associated with the trade or business is carried on mainly by certain persons for whose benefit the institution or trust is established
